Before Bible study begins, the proper tools are needed. This includes a good study Bible, a concordance, and a Bible dictionary.
Good Study Bible
First, a good study Bible is recommended. This means the translation has notes that help to explain difficult terms and concepts. It must be stressed, however, that only the Scriptures are error-free-this is not true with the explanatory notes found in Bible translations no matter how helpful they are to the believer.
Concordance
A concordance is a book that lists every word found in the Bible and then lists each verse in which that word is found. Therefore someone can use a concordance and look up a verse when only one word is remembered.
Bible Dictionary
A Bible dictionary is also useful. The dictionary will list different words and subjects found in the Bible and then give a definition of them. This can be extremely helpful because many of the customs found in Scripture are no longer practiced today.
Summary
It is absolutely essential to have the proper tools before Bible study begins. These include a study Bible, concordance, and Bible dictionary.
